What is Horsemanship? It is the horse + human relationship.
What is the Bible? God's truth about Himself and how we should relate to Him.
Can the two go together? Absolutely!
The Lord has led me (Greta Cummings) on an amazing path from my beginning. For many years I worked with horses, and followed God. The two were exclusively separate. Yet there was a longing, a desire, to use my work with horses to further His kingdom. A friend from church and I started the Cornerstone Fellowship Ministry to minister to young girls that the Lord had brought into our lives. And I continued my business, but my soul still wasn't settled. I was still searching, still trying to find how I could use the two together. Then my mentor introduced me to Ronnie Moyer and Touch of the Master's Hand Horsemanship in 2023. I saw horsemanship in a whole new way. I saw the Bible come to life with the horse. This is what the Lord was wanting me to do.
What to expect at Cornerstone Horsemanship Clinics:
Bible Study
Horsemanship
Home cooked meals
Fellowship
When you arrive the evening before we start, you'll be welcomed with a homemade meal and a chance for fellowship, giving us the opportunity to get to know each other and settle in.
We will begin our clinic in God's Word. Our core text will be
You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had Philippians 2:5
As Christians, followers of Christ, our life's goal is defined by this. During this clinic, we will explore its meaning, and the horse will indicate when we have achieved it. We will be all throughout the scriptures, but for sure we will be in Genesis 1-3, Philippians and the Book of Romans. I encourage you to read these for a foundation of what we will be studying. Bible study time is not overly structured. We will look at the role of humans and the horse in creation and their natures. This will give us a foundation to approach the horse with.
Horsemanship will be in the arena and round pen. Round pen work will begin at liberty. We won't be "round penning" our horses, but we will use the round pen a boundary. This will be a reflection of how we are made in His image (Genesis 1:27). Through all of this the goal is to see the scriptures come to life with the horse. See how we too are made of three parts, just as God is triune. Discover how the horse, halter, lead, and human come together to bring the Word of God to life, living and active in our everyday life.
The entire clinic is about allowing the horse to bring the scriptures to life before our eyes. I thank the Lord constantly that He has given me the horse to practice being more like Him with, because I will be working on being more like Him everyday that I am still living on this side of Heaven.
Will we ride at the clinic? Maybe. This clinic is more about recognizing who we are in relation to God. It may come out in how we ride. It may come out in how we interact with our horse on the ground. It is open to any way that the Lord leads us to see Him and He is to be seen.
Meals are provided each day you are with us. Supper when you arrive. Brunch after Bible Study in the morning and early evening dinners after horsemanship and a break, followed with ending our day studying God's Word. The morning you are packing up and getting ready to head back home we will make sure you have one more homemade meal to carry you home.
We hope you will join us! To join us visit our Event Page to see when they are scheduled. Perhaps you would like to host a Biblical Horsemanship clinic? You can find out more on the Clinic Page.
