No Other gods!

Have you ever had to deal with a horse that would not listen to you? They are really frustrating, hard to handle, and dangerous. Us not listening to the Lord is very much the same way. Most often we will fight with a horse that doesn't want to listen, but more often than not it doesn't get anywhere. The Lord is much wiser than us and He will not fight with us, He will give us peace when we go the right way, and leave us void of it when we go the wrong. That is exactly how I get through to these horses. Now the question is, have you thought about listening to the Lord? Jesus said, “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money." Matthew 6:24

Putting anything before God is like your horse listening to anything but you. It is very easy to put things before God in this world, therefore we must be diligent to make sure we do not. To make sure we always put God first there are several things to do: Read His Word First No matter what you are going through in life, God gives us the answer in the scriptures. He tells us how to live, how to respond to others, how to manage money, how to care for what He has given us, how to manage emotions, how to choose a life mate, how to know right from wrong, and how to prepare for the End Times. Pray Always Prayer is as important as reading His scriptures. You cannot have one without the other and the best way to pray is to pray His Words back to Him. The Psalms are a great place to start. In fact, we put our #VirtuousCowgirls to a challenge last night, to see who could read the most Psalms over the next week. As teen girls they are dealing with a lot in life right now. If you are too, read the Psalms and then pray them back to God. Go To Church This one is so very important, as important as the first two. The writer of Hebrews tells us, "And let us consider how we may spur one another on towards love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another - and all the more as you see the Day approaching." Make sure you find a good Bible teaching and believing church that will help you to grow in the knowledge of His Word and how to apply it to your life. Without this we find ourselves going our own way very quickly, and that is forming an idol of God in your mind and putting it before the Lord. Choose Your Friends Wisely Your friend does not necessarily have to be a part of the church you attend. Some of my closest friends attend other churches, but we are still part of 'The Church: the body of Christ'. Those I allow to influence my life, to be my supporters and sway my opinions are those who also cherish God's Word, are faithful prayer warriors, are firmly planted in a Bible believing and teaching church, and make sure I stay the course on God's path. Making sure there are no gods before the Lord is not something we do only on Sundays, it is something that must be done on a daily basis. I remember Pastor Joe Focht talking about a friend of his who on the first of every year would write "Jesus" on every day of the year in his calendar. I think this was a figurative illustration, but it made the point. This friend of his devoted every day to the Lord and the adventures the Lord led him on were beyond anyone's imagination. Just like our horses, the places they can go because we ask them to go are amazing and they could have never gotten there without us and without submitting themselves to our guidance. Do the same with the Lord, submit to Him. Listen to Him in every way. I made that decision close to 20 years ago and have not regretted it once. I feel His guidance on yet another amazing adventure and I am excited to see how He works this time. #CornerstoneVerseOfTheDay
