Proverbs 31:27 Cowgirl Version
The virtuous cowgirl is involved with all aspects of her homestead. She knows the workings of the ranch or farm, she knows what her kids are involved in and who they are involved with, and she knows her husband has no wants. This is what it means to watch over the homestead. She is the guardian of the gate and lets nothing slide that is not beneficial for her family, farm, or ranch.
Remember that her cowboy has full confidence in her? It is because she takes care of these things with knowledge, wisdom, and tact. He trusts her fully because she measures everything against the plumbline of the Bible. (Amos 7:7-8) The Lord allows no crooked or perverse ways, nor does the virtuous cowgirl. She uses the Lord's standard as the standard in her home. Yet she remembers His desire is:
What does the Lord require of man? But to do what is right and just, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God. Micah 6:8
It's not all about strict rules and regulations in her home, it's about being obedient to the Creator, yet knowing on our own we cannot measure up to His standard (Isaiah 64:6, Romans 3:23-24), but that He made a way through Jesus Christ (John 14:6). She takes Moses' words to the Israelites seriously:
Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates. Deuteronomy 6:4-9
Her husband does not leave it all up to her, he supports her in all she does, and as head of the household he makes sure his family worships the Lord as the scripture describes. This is a joint effort and she can't do it alone, but neither can he, this is why the Lord designed male and female in the beginning (Genesis 2:18-24). They are individuals, yet they are one. This is why Paul cautions us to not be unequally yoked (2 Corinthians 6:14).
In all of this she is never idle, she see what needs to be done and she gets it done. She doesn't let anything slide. She is a woman of action and understands that even if she stands alone for what is right, she is a part of the majority; because you plus the Lord, are always a majority.
